When Anxiety Takes Over
Anxiety can show up in many ways. It might feel like:
A racing mind that won’t slow down
Physical tension or a pit in your stomach
Trouble sleeping or constant worry
Avoiding situations, people, or decisions
Overthinking every little thing
Left untreated, anxiety can interfere with work, relationships, and your physical health—including your appetite, sleep, and even weight. Our therapists are trained to help you break the cycle.
Part of a Bigger Picture
We don’t just treat anxiety in isolation.
At Metabolite Clinic, we understand the link between anxiety, emotional eating, body image, and chronic stress. Our team works together—psychotherapists, physicians, and dietitians—to provide whole-person, integrated care.
You’re not overreacting. You’re not “too sensitive.” You’re dealing with anxiety—and there’s help available.
Therapy Works and It’s More Than Just Coping
You don’t have to “just live with it.”
Psychotherapy is one of the most effective treatments for anxiety—whether or not you’re on medication. Our licensed therapists use evidence-based approaches like:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
- Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)
- Somatic and Trauma-Informed Techniques
You’ll learn practical strategies to calm your body, reframe your thinking, and respond more effectively to stress and uncertainty.

Frequently Asked Questions
It’s normal to feel anxious occasionally, but if you’re experiencing constant worry, panic attacks, physical tension, racing thoughts, or avoiding things due to fear, it may be more than everyday stress. If anxiety is interfering with your work, sleep, relationships, or quality of life, therapy can help.
General anxiety comes and goes and is usually tied to specific events (like a big exam or interview). Anxiety disorders are more persistent, often out of proportion to the situation, and can affect your ability to function or relax. Common anxiety disorders include Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorder, and social anxiety.
At Metabolite Clinic, we use evidence-based therapy techniques like:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to change unhelpful thinking patterns
- Mindfulness and grounding strategies to calm physical symptoms
- Exposure techniques to reduce avoidance and build confidence
- Somatic tools to regulate the nervous system
Therapy helps you understand the root of your anxiety and gives you tools to manage it more effectively.
For many people, therapy alone is highly effective. Others benefit from a combination of therapy and medication. Our therapists can collaborate with your primary care provider or psychiatrist if medication is part of your plan if needed. Either way, therapy provides long-term coping strategies that medication alone cannot.
