Rapid Access Clinic for Obesity & Menopause Care

Obesity & Menopause Care

Evidence-based, whole-person support

Weight and menopause symptoms aren’t “just willpower” — they’re driven by biology. At Metabolite Clinic, we take a 360° view of your health, including metabolism, hormones, nutrition, sleep, mental health, and medical history.

Obesity & metabolic health

We evaluate the medical drivers of weight gain and tailor a plan that may include lifestyle strategies, targeted lab work, and medication when appropriate. Even modest weight loss (often around 5% for many people) can meaningfully improve markers like blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar control. Results vary and cannot be guaranteed.

Menopause care

Menopause and perimenopause can affect weight distribution, sleep, mood, energy, and hot flashes. We assess symptoms, hormone and metabolic factors, and overall health risks to build an individualized plan — which may include lifestyle interventions, non-hormonal options, and hormone replacement therapy when clinically appropriate. Treatment is personalized and depends on your medical history and preferences.

Team-based care

Our physicians, nurse practitioners, dietitians, and mental health professionals work together to support safe, sustainable progress — and help you maintain results long term.

Why We Offer This Program

Many people who qualify for medical weight loss care in Ontario or British Columbia don’t get care they need — often because they don’t have a family doctor.

We created this rapid access clinic to remove barriers so you can get the care you deserve. Your weight does not define you — but your health matters. Let’s start your journey together.

Frequently Asked Questions

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a calculation based on your height and weight. You may qualify if you:

  • Have a BMI over 30, OR
  • Have a BMI over 27 with at least one weight-related health condition (e.g., diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, fatty liver, high cholesterol, or joint pain).

You can calculate your BMI here.

Comorbidities are medical conditions that are often linked to extra weight and can improve with weight loss. Examples include:

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High cholesterol (dyslipidemia)
  • Sleep apnea
  • Fatty liver disease (NAFLD/NASH)
  • Joint pain or osteoarthritis

If you have a family doctor, you will need to obtain a referral from them so they can stay informed and involved in your care.

However, our rapid access care pathway is specifically designed for patients who do not have a family doctor.

We created this option to ensure you can still access timely, comprehensive obesity and metabolic health support through our program or of your choice.

No — because we are Internal Medicine Specialists, your visit with us will not affect your family doctor or their roster with OHIP. We do encourage you to obtain a referral from your family doctor if possible, so they are aware of your care.

If you have a family doctor, we also ask that you provide their fax number so we can send them our consultation notes and keep your medical records up to date.

Physician/NP services are covered by OHIP or MSP for eligible Ontario and British Columbia residents. If you are referred to one of our Internal Medicine specialists for obesity or menopause care, physician visits are publicly insured when eligible.

Dietitian and psychotherapy services are not covered by OHIP or MSP. However, they may be covered through many extended health benefit plans.

Our specialists will assess your health, medical history, and goals to create a personalized plan. This may include prescription medication, nutrition counseling, mental health support, or other evidence-based treatments with our specialists.

Once we receive your form, our healthcare provider will review it. You’ll then have a visit with our provider to determine if you meet the criteria. If you do, we will send your referral.

Wait times vary but are generally much shorter than traditional referral pathways.

We have limited availability each month, and spots get taken very quickly — apply as soon as possible.
